OUR MISSION

To provide cost free legal services and education to Nigerian communities in order to encourage hope and empowerment to the oppressed.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Ashes Unite (AU) believes that everyone is entitled to legal representation. Never has a call for legal representation among indigent communities of The Federal Republic of Nigeria been more needed than now. According to a recent survey report by the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crimes, the absence of affordable and accessible legal aid services increases poor people’s sense of social exclusion and powerlessness. Traditional dispute resolution mechanisms become, by default, the only option for most people, particularly in rural areas. Moreover, such resolutions tend to be socially outdated, often times leading to inefficient solutions that generally favor oppresors. It is the objective of AU to address this immediate need for legal representation and education by providing individualized legal services providing counsel and education to ensure that no one is left without representation and without an understanding of their legal rights as a citizen of the ever-growing nation of Nigeria.

AU also seeks to address Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 10 and 16 of the United Nation’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in assisting the Nigerian government in implementing these necessary objectives

OUR APPROACH ENCOMPASSES FIVE KEY ELEMENTS:

(1) Provide an access point for persons in need of legal rescue and unable to afford legal services.

(2) Educate the Nigerian people of their legal rights under Nigerian law through a series of programs and resources, in a pursuit to empower the Nigerian community at large.

(3) Advocate on behalf of indigent clientsby providing each person or group of persons with personalized legal representation to execute client goals in bringing their oppressors to justice.

(4) Partner with Global institutions that advocate for Human Rights, Nigerian communities around the world, and the Nigerian government; to expand greater accessibility to legal tools through both representation and education for indigent communities.

(5) Strengthen the overall justice system and its relationship to the community. We strive to effectuate positive change in the Nigerian community’s relationship with the legal system by providing citizens with necessary tools to understand and protect not only their civic interests, but their positions within the Nigerian legal framework.
